Floral Shorts x Black Crop

Fashion, fashion blogger, florals, ootd

This outfit was inspired by the fashion blogger Something Navy. She effortlessly pulled off a floral skirt with a white button down.  I think she has great taste in clothing because she always looks put together no matter what she wears.  Her outfits translate as very relatable and something that I could see myself wearing for work or play.

Here is her outfit:

Here is my take on the outfit:   This is a close up of the details.  My sunglasses are from Urban Outfitters, my lipstick is by Bite Cosmetics and my earrings are vintage from my Grandmother.  I decided to stick with an bun because it was so hot outside.

I am wearing a crop top from Lord and Taylor, floral shorts from Nordstrom and sandals from TJMaxx and by Nine West.  I feel like the sunglasses and bright lip really channel and Audrey Hepburn, and the outfit contrasts that classic feel because it is so modern and casual.

Makeup: Cara Delevingne Inspired

beauty, Cara Delevigne, makeup, makeup inspiration

While laying out, I scrolled through Pinterest and browsed their beauty section for some ideas on makeup.  I’ve always found celebrity makeup tutorials amusing, but never tried to execute them.  I watched liked Youtube’s Itssimplyciara Cara Delevingne Makeup Tutorial and felt that it was easy enough for me to follow. Here is the link to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFLNNOJEPgo&feature=sharecontrol

Here is how the makeup turned out with my hair up and down:

The hair down definitely softens the look.  Although the makeup is more than I usually wear, I really like the way it makes my eyes pop!

LBD x Crimped Hair

Fashion, lipstick, ootd, outfit

I kept my hair crimped the next day and kept my outfit simple.  I paired my hair with a bright lip, so I wanted those two things to be the focus.  The shore is very relaxed, so my I have been keeping my daytime makeup to a minimum.

^Here is the back of the dress, I love the cut outs and the straight silhouette.

^This is the front of the dress, it is the perfect LBD and is very transitional.   ^This is the whole outfit with the addition of my Yorkie, Louie.

The dress is from Nordstrom Rack, the blazer is from Nordstrom and by Gibson.  My shoes are from TJMaxx and by BCBG Generation, my earrings are from JCrew and my lipstick is from Bite Cosmetics.  I am very happy with this dual lipstick from Bite Cosmetics! First off, this is a brand that uses all natural ingredients, their lipsticks are soft and moisturizing, but have a long lasting, vibrant pigment. I would highly suggest checking them out!

Here is a close up of my go-to JCrew rhinestones.  They are a fun shape and pair well with pretty much everything.

Hair: Crimped

90s, 90s trends, crimped hair, hair

For this post, I am taking you back to the 90’s with crimped hair.  My newfound obsession is thanks to my sister.  A few months ago I was visiting her at school and she suggested I try crimping my hair with her recently purchased crimper.  Why not, I thought to myself and proceeded to crimp layer by layer for 45 minutes.  The end product was slightly startling at first, but I shortly fell head over heels. I don’t know how, but crimping gives hair this incredible volume.

Here is one of the pictures from my first interaction with a crimper:  Here is my sister and I post crimp.  This was when I had really long hair, so it’s amazing that it was so voluptuous.

This past weekend I crimped my short hair and this is how it turned out:

This was before I crimped my hair or did my makeup:

This is after the makeup and crimp:

It still has the playful look as it did before and really makes the color of my hair pop.

Here is my sister and I on our way to Atlantic City this weekend.  We didn’t plan it, but we are rockin’ some 90’s swag.  My hair is crimped, my sister is wearing a choker and brown tinted lipstick.  I guess trends to repeat themselves.

Hope you enjoy!

Denim x Denim

denim, Fashion, outfit

Whenever I used to think about denim on denim, it would bring me back to a picture of Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears in a matching jean ensemble.  Britney is in a light wash jean gown and Justin is in a denim tuxedo…not the prettiest sight.  However, with the new washes and fits of denim, there are endless possibilities for the “Canadian Tuxedo”.  This taboo look is now becoming a staple for fashionistas and bloggers alike and I am joining the fad.

Here is my take on the Canadian Tuxedo:

My button down and jeans are both from Garage, my shoes are from TJMaxx and by BCBG Generation.  Both my bag and bracelets are from local boutiques down the shore.  My bag is from a boutique called Costal Fx in Stone Harbor and my bracelets are from Bellisima in Avalon.

Here is a close up of the bag!

How do you feel about the “Canadian Tuxedo”?

Makeup: Contouring

cat eye, Fashion, makeup

This weekend I experimented with a lot of different makeup and hair styles. For this nights look I contoured my face and did a natural cat eye.

Here is the before picture:

^This is the before picture, I only have on lotion.

This is the frontal look of after, and underneath are the left and right sides.

After working with a makeup artist, I learned that it is best to start with the eyes and then move onto face makeup.  I start my routine by applying Too Faced Eye Primer (which I also use for primer on breakouts), and then add the eyeshadow and highlight on top.  For my eye makeup I use Stila’s In the Light Kit which is filled with lovely neutrals and tans that work perfect for a natural look.  After my eyeshadow and highlights are on I then apply the cat eye with Benefit’s They’re Real Push Up Liner.  I have tried many liquid and gel liners and this is my favorite.  It is easy to apply and stays put without smudging or the pigment fading, I would highly recommend trying it! After my eyeliner is to my liking, I apply L’Oreal’s Telescope Mascara.

For my face makeup, I like to start with a primer. I find that Laura Mercier’s Hydrating Primer holds the makeup and also moisturizes the skin, keeping my face looking fresh. Since it’s summer, I skip foundation and concealer so that my skin can breathe.  I go straight to my Anastasia Of Beverly Hills Contouring Kit and mix her light and medium shadow and apply it to my cheekbones, temples, jawline and the sides and underside of my nose.  After this is to my liking, I mix both matte highlights and apply them to my nose, forehead, upper cheekbones, upper lip and chin.  I then add the shimmery highlight to the top of my cheekbones to give them an extra pop.

This may sound like a lot, but this takes me about 15 minutes to do.  There are a lot of diagrams and Youtube tutorials out there if these directions are too confusing.

Let me know if this was helpful or if you have any questions!

Minimalist Accessories

Fashion, fashion blogger

For my birthday, my friend purchased this dainty necklace for me.  It is a short silver chain with a small pearl at the end.  It is simple, but elegant and I absolutely love it.  Here it is paired with a long, Onyx ring:

These accessories really embody how I feel about fashion.  A simple outfit is always a great go to.  It allows the audience to really soak in every piece and appreciate it.

Harem Pants x Patterned Top

Uncategorized

I knew that I had to be comfortable today because I was participating in proctoring MCAS.  Harem pants are wonderful because they look refined, but feel like sweatpants.  I wanted to pair my harem pants with a different top than I normally do, so I went with a patterned one.  I added a pop of color with a red necklace. Ideally, I wanted to use a bright pink necklace and my pointed tan flats, but these accessories were all I had at the time.  I guess this means shopping trip in the future!

Here is the look:

I am wearing a shirt from Anthropologie, harem pants from Nordstrom, and shoes from Urban Outfitters. The necklace and bracelet are from boutiques.

Here is a close up of the pattern of the shirt and my ring. The ring is from JCrew.

Here are the adorable shoes. They have buckles on the sides!

Neoprene Dress x Leather Jacket

Uncategorized

This weekend I decided to be adventurous, I paired a feminine dress with leather. I planned to wear the dress paired with a lace blazer and pointed toe shoes. However, after a suggestion from a friend, I paired it with leather and loved it. The leather made it appropriate for the evening and made it casual. Here is a detail:

The texture of the leather really works well with the geometric pattern of the dress.

Here is the dress by itself:

To me this is feminine and flirty, so I would think to play off of that with dainty accessories.

Here is the New York look:

The jacket was a gift but made by barIII, the dress was from Urban Outfitters. My shoes were from TJMaxx and by BCBG generation, my bag is also from TJMaxx and by Michael Kors.
