Metallics After the Holidays: Gold Sweater

Boston, Boston blogger, casual, Fashion, fashion blogger, holiday, holiday outfit,, minimalist, ootd, outfit, outfit inspiration, womens fashion, womenswear

This is the second addition of metallics after the holidays.  Today I’m focusing on how to wear a sparkly gold sweater.  Even during the holidays this was a tough piece to wear.  However, taking it out of a formal context,  I was easily able to wear and accessorize the sweater.

Metallics After the Holidays: Bronze Skirt

Boston, Boston blogger, casual, Fashion, fashion blogger, holiday, holiday outfit,, minimalist, neutrals, ootd, outfit, outfit inspiration, womens fashion, womenswear

Metallics, sequins and sparkles are a must during the holidays, especially for New Years.  However, once the holidays are over trends lose their sparkle.  Why not keep the sparkles alive?

Today’s outfit is a day time look that incorporates metallics in a casual way.

IMG_4624.jpgIMG_4626.jpgIMG_4632.jpgIMG_4634.jpgIMG_4645.JPGIMG_4639.JPGIMG_4647.JPGThe top and skirt are from Nordstrom BP, the skirt is by MimiChica, the leather jacket is by Bar3, and the shoes are from Lord and Taylor and by Sam Edelman.  The earrings are by Alexis Bittar, the ring is from Silpada and the bag is vintage, and from The Costume Company.

This look is sleek, and doesn’t feel too over the top.  Metallics are a great way to add a subtle pop to your outfit.  The skirt adds the texture and sheen that this outfit needs.

How do you wear metallics?

Utilitarian-Feminine

Blogging, Bohemian, Boston, casual, Fashion, fashion blogger, feminine, holiday, holiday outfit,, ootd, outfit, outfit inspiration, street style, style crush, winter hat, womens fashion, womenswear

This outfit is an interesting juxtaposition between feminine and utilitarian.  The hyper feminine skirt has a dynamic movement with a beautiful silhouette.  The straight fit of the army jacket anchors, and contrasts the movement.  Although the pieces are opposite in style, they work together to create a cute, everyday look.

The cropped sweater is from Nordstrom and by Trouve, the skirt is from Forever21, and the jacket is from Lucky Brand.  The beanie is from Free People and the shoes are by Vince Camuto.

I hope this outfit inspires you to take chances with your outfits and combine different styles.

Texture, Leather x Leather

This look came together when I paired my leather patterned top and bottom.  Even though I bought them separately, they both have the same hole punched pattern, so they feel cohesive.  The other accessories are just as edgy, spiked bottom boots and a fur coat.

The look combines many different textures.  The leather on leather feels like a coordinate piece and the shoes tie it together.  The coat brings a pop of color and elongates the silhouette.  This is a great outfit for a night out or a holiday party.

The top is from TJMaxx and by Bailey 44, the skirt is from Nordstrom BP, the boots are from LF in Cambridge and by Sam Edelman, and the coat is from a market in China.  The earrings are from Aldo, the ring is from JCrew and the spiked bracelet is from Urban Outfitters.

Soft Neutrals

Layering during winter is key to staying warm.  However, it’s hard to make a sweater versatile if you wear it on rotation.  I suggest changing the way you layer it.  I like to wear my sweater over a long blouse and put a tailored blazer over it.  This is a formal and feminine way to wear a grey sweater.  _MG_2620.jpg_MG_2628.jpg_MG_2630.jpg_MG_2634.jpg_MG_2654.jpg_MG_2670.jpg_MG_2677.jpg_MG_2666.jpgPhotography by Katie Mack Photography.

This look is polished, but doesn’t feel too formal because the denim balances the blazer and shoes.  It also transitions well from work to casual wear.

The blouse is by Mink Pink and from Urban Outfitters, the sweater is by BDG and also from Urban Outfitters, the denim is from JCrew and the blazer is from TJMaxx and by Cynthia Rowley.  The earrings are from Bloomingdales and by AQUA, the bag is from H&M and the shoes are from Nordstrom Rack and by 14th and Union.

I hope this helps your winter outfit prep!

Layered Jumpsuit

Boston, Boston blogger, Fashion, fashion blogger, holiday, holiday outfit,, minimalist, minimalist ootd, neutrals, ootd, outfit, outfit inspiration, womens fashion, womenswear, work outfit

Lately, I see bloggers layering strapless tops or jumpsuits with t’s or long sleeve shirts.  I have slowly, but surely become obsessed with this trend and had to try it out.  I paired a formal strapless jumpsuit with a casual top, and this is the result.

_MG_2581.jpg_MG_2584.jpg_MG_2607.jpg_MG_2591.jpg_MG_2611.jpg_MG_2616.jpgPhotography by Katie Mack Photography.

I love the interaction between the materials of the outfit.  The shirt is comfortable and juxtaposes the structured fit of the  jumpsuit and shoes.

The grey top is from JCrew, the jumpsuit is from TJMaxx and the shoes are from DSW and by Audrey Brooke.  The earrings are from Bloomingdales and by AQUA, and the bracelet was a gift.

Leather x Tulle

Boston, Boston blogger, city, Fashion, fashion blogger, holiday, holiday outfit,, ootd, outfit, outfit inspiration, street style, style crush, womens fashion, womenswear

Holiday statement pieces can be hard hard to wear in every day situations.  This was an issue I had, until I started to think outside the box.  Today’s look was planned around my pastel pink tulle skirt.  I originally bought it for New Years last year, but never wore it because I couldn’t find a piece to pair with it.  The problem was that I had a specific look that I wanted and only focused on that.

Looking at the skirt now, I have a completely different perspective.  This new view opened my mind to many different ways to wear the skirt.  Instead of putting the skirt in a feminine category, I think of it as a textured skirt.  Because of this, I created this awesome outfit!

The jacket is by Bar3, the top and skirt are from Urban Outfitters and the shoes are from Lord and Taylor and by Sam Edelman.  The necklace is from Urban Outfitters, the ring is from JCrew and the bag is from Nordstrom.

This is a casual look for the holidays that is easy to wear but has a lot of personality.  The leather and tulle juxtapose each other and create an interesting aesthetic.  The tulle feels edgy because of the accessories it’s paired with.  This look is much more playful than my original outfit idea.

Hope this helps!

Holiday Look: Lace and Fur

Boston, Boston blogger, Fashion, fashion blogger, feminine, florals, holiday, holiday outfit,, ootd, ootn, outfit, outfit inspiration, womens fashion, womenswear

This is a fancier look that is adapted to the warm weather we’ve been having.  I swapped out the usual holiday dress for a sheer lace romper and topped it with a faux fur coat.  This look can be worn in any temperature because of it’s versatility.   Since it is winter in Massachusetts, the weather is bound to turn chilly.  If this is the case, I would add black tights and a cute beanie for extra warmth.

_MG_2347.jpg_MG_2351.jpg_MG_2357.jpg_MG_2361.jpg

Photography by Katie Mack Photography.

The fur is from Nordstrom Rack and by Alice and Olivia, the romper is from Lord and Taylor and by BCBG Generation, the shoes are also from Lord and Taylor and by Sam Edelman.  The earrings are from Bloomingdales and by Rebecca Minkoff, and the ring is by a local artist from Cape May, named Michael Connor.

The femininity and intricacy of the romper speak for themselves.  The piece is so decorative, that it steals the show.  I love the cut outs and lace details of the romper, it shows skin, but doesn’t feel over the top.  The fur coat gives the outfit an old Hollywood-glamour feel.  The bare leg and ankle boots balance out the full top of the outfit.

Hope this helps with your holiday outfit inspiration!
