Black x Florals

I kept my outfit monochromatic and added color with a floral blazer and pastel pumps.  The high neckline of the turtleneck intensifies the black in the blazer and brings out the pinks and reds.

Studded

From the studded sleeves, to the open hem denim, today’s outfit is all in the details.  This is a work inspired look that I wanted to make appropriate for a night out.  I combined edgy and feminine pieces, but tried to keep it casual.

Utilitarian-Feminine

This outfit is an interesting juxtaposition between feminine and utilitarian.  The hyper feminine skirt has a dynamic movement with a beautiful silhouette.  The straight fit of the army jacket anchors, and contrasts the movement.  Although the pieces are opposite in style, they work together to create a cute, everyday look.

The cropped sweater is from Nordstrom and by Trouve, the skirt is from Forever21, and the jacket is from Lucky Brand.  The beanie is from Free People and the shoes are by Vince Camuto.

I hope this outfit inspires you to take chances with your outfits and combine different styles.

Soft Neutrals

Layering during winter is key to staying warm.  However, it’s hard to make a sweater versatile if you wear it on rotation.  I suggest changing the way you layer it.  I like to wear my sweater over a long blouse and put a tailored blazer over it.  This is a formal and feminine way to wear a grey sweater.  _MG_2620.jpg_MG_2628.jpg_MG_2630.jpg_MG_2634.jpg_MG_2654.jpg_MG_2670.jpg_MG_2677.jpg_MG_2666.jpgPhotography by Katie Mack Photography.

This look is polished, but doesn’t feel too formal because the denim balances the blazer and shoes.  It also transitions well from work to casual wear.

The blouse is by Mink Pink and from Urban Outfitters, the sweater is by BDG and also from Urban Outfitters, the denim is from JCrew and the blazer is from TJMaxx and by Cynthia Rowley.  The earrings are from Bloomingdales and by AQUA, the bag is from H&M and the shoes are from Nordstrom Rack and by 14th and Union.

I hope this helps your winter outfit prep!

Holiday Look: Lace and Fur

Boston, Boston blogger, Fashion, fashion blogger, feminine, florals, holiday, holiday outfit,, ootd, ootn, outfit, outfit inspiration, womens fashion, womenswear

This is a fancier look that is adapted to the warm weather we’ve been having.  I swapped out the usual holiday dress for a sheer lace romper and topped it with a faux fur coat.  This look can be worn in any temperature because of it’s versatility.   Since it is winter in Massachusetts, the weather is bound to turn chilly.  If this is the case, I would add black tights and a cute beanie for extra warmth.

The fur is from Nordstrom Rack and by Alice and Olivia, the romper is from Lord and Taylor and by BCBG Generation, the shoes are also from Lord and Taylor and by Sam Edelman.  The earrings are from Bloomingdales and by Rebecca Minkoff, and the ring is by a local artist from Cape May, named Michael Connor.

The femininity and intricacy of the romper speak for themselves.  The piece is so decorative, that it steals the show.  I love the cut outs and lace details of the romper, it shows skin, but doesn’t feel over the top.  The fur coat gives the outfit an old Hollywood-glamour feel.  The bare leg and ankle boots balance out the full top of the outfit.

Hope this helps with your holiday outfit inspiration!

High Socks x LBD

A little black dress is a must in any woman’s outfit, and with different cuts and styles it’s easy to find one to fit your aesthetic.  Out of the many LBDs that I have, the shift shape is my most worn.  The classic shape and crepe material make it really versatile for day or night time wear.

I wore this dress as a daytime date to the MFA and paired it with a knee high socks and a turtleneck underneath.  Over it I wore a black cuccoon coat for length and warmth.

The dress is from Nordstrom Rack, the cuccoon coat is from JCrew, and the shoes are from Lord and Taylor and by Sam Edelman.  The scarf and socks are from Urban Outfitters and the bag is from a local market in China.

This piece is titled Tongue Gilding by Lauren Kalman.  I love it!

This is another interesting piece in the contemporary section in the Museum of Fine Arts.  I am also showcasing the high socks.

How do you style your high socks?

Holiday Outfit Ideas

When it comes to the holidays, it’s always better to know what you’re wearing in advance.  This is the busiest time of year and we tend to forget more (or at least I do).  So, I have provided some options to help you out!

These were the outfits I planned out for Thanksgiving, but they can easily be translated to other holidays. From left to right: turtleneck from Nordstrom BP, metallic skirt from JCrew, grey skirt from Madewell, cropped sweater from Urban Outfitters, and purse/muff from a China market.

What’s great about these looks is that they can easily be created with neutral tops, all you need are the skirts.  Coincidentally, they are both on sale at JCrew and Madewell.   Shop away!

These were the holiday outfits I planned for my mom, but they’re so cute anyone can wear them!

Left to right: clock blouse by JCrew, shoes by Nine West, High Rise Lookout Jeans by JCrew, necklace from TJMaxx by Mythology, sweater from Urban Outfitters, and High Rise Lookout Jeans in Dark Wash from JCrew.

Left to right: shoes by Nine West, sweater by Leith from Nordstrom, furry vest by H.I.P from Nordstrom Rack, and High Rise Lookout Jeans from JCrew.  The necklace is from TJMaxx and the bracelet is from Anthropologie.

If you want to make your life easier…

Just add statement jewelry to any outfit to dress it up.  A pop of color or bling can really transform the look.

This is a close up of the TJMaxx necklace that was paired with the third look.  The size and ornate style give the outfit a feminine vibe.

The bracelet adds color and really pulls the jewelry and outfit together.

I hope these outfits inspired you!  If theres one thing to take away from this, it’s that statement jewelry is always a great addition to an outfit.  Try it and you will not be disappointed!

Audrey Hepburn Inspired

Audrey Hepburn, Fashion, feminine, ootd

Today I had a meeting for a mentor program at my old high school.  I was asked to mentor a girl with her senior project on a fashion blog.  I decided to dress up for it and pair a T length skirt and a T-shirt together with flat sandals and a red lip.

Here’s the look:

This is definitely one of my favorite outfits.  To me whole outfit has a Mediterranean feel, I picture this being worn in the summer by the water.  With that being said, it gives me nostalgia and brings me back to studying abroad in the South of France.

The red lip of the outfit and sunglasses also remind me of Audrey Hepburn, so this is an ode to her and to the easy Mediterranean style.

My sunglasses are from Urban Outfitters and my bag is from Coach. My shirt is from JCrew, my skirt is from Banana Republic and my shoes are from TJMaxx and by Nine West.

You can shop the look at:

I had to spin in the skirt, so this is an action shot.  I love the movement of the outfit. There is a stop motion video on my Instagram that shows the fullness of the skirt.  After having the meeting, I traveled with my friend Andrea to Rockport and Salem. I changed my shirt to a crop top tank from TJMaxx made by Clover Canyon.

This is the beautiful view from the jetty.
