Kendall and Kylie Label Review

Fashion, womens fashion, womenswear

I spent yesterday browsing through stores and trying on different styles.  While in Cusp, I found a rack filled with clothes from Kendall and Kylie’s new line.  I was thrown off by how many items were still available (and in my size).  I quickly pulled as many items as I could find to try on.  Two white button downs, culottes and a pleated pant.

I was impressed by their design aesthetic and immediately loved their pieces.  A lot of them were classic items remixed with a new pattern or design.  I picked out a soft periwinkle and animal print culotte, pleated pants that were a bold gingham and two white button downs that had different cut outs that modernized the look.  In addition to the cute style, the price point was reasonable, mostly hovering around the $90 range, but my love for the pieces justified the price.

The general fit of the clothing was true to size, I fit comfortably into a small in most of the pieces.  However, the cut of the clothing is what disappointed me.  The back of one button up was so open that it didn’t feel secure, or stay on when I moved.  The other shirt was cut out in the back and pleated in the front.  Which looked beautiful, but was much too big in the chest, and the cutout back didn’t help.  I fell in love with the gingham pants and their super high waist.  However, the pleats in the front were sewn in a peculiar place and gave the illusion of fuller legs.  Lastly, I tried the culottes, and I thought that they would fit.  But again I was disappointed, rise was a little too short and the pleats were placed peculiarly on the side of the pant, taking away from the potentially flattering fit.

Let me remind you that I wanted these pieces to fit.  I fell in love with every single piece and desperately wanted them to work out.  However, the fit needed to be more refined.  And until that happens, I will be distraught by the thought of what could’ve been.

The front of the first button up described (sleeves are a little short, but that how they always fit me).  Seemingly traditional until you get to the back…

BAM! But the beautiful open back didn’t stay put.

The tie back button up that was too big in the front.  I only took a picture of the back because of its a interesting shape.

The super cool gingham high waisted pants.  I am still mourning them…but you can see the strange placement of the pleats.

Lastly, the culottes that seemed the most normal, but just didn’t cut it…see the pleats?

I hope this helped!
