Neutral Layers

Fashion

Before finding the monthly challenge, I planned and shot other outfits for the week.  Coincidentally this look matched the first day’s prompt of layering.  Today I layered a two toned vest over a bell sleeved button up and work pants.  To add shape, I belted it at the waist.  I paired it with a structured bag and retro round toe heels for a tailored touch.

The striped shirt is from Zara, the vest is from Anthropologie, the pants are from JCrew and the shoes are by Bandolino.  The earrings are from Lord and Taylor, the ring is by John Hardy and the bag is from Nordstrom and by Halogen and the belt is vintage.

How do you layer?

This weekend I met up with a fellow blogger, Roses and Rose for a photo shoot in Boston.  We switched between photographing and posing and got some incredible shots!

The sweater is from Urban Outfitters, the pants and cocoon coat are from JCrew, and the ankle boots are from Lord and Taylor and by Sam Edelman.

The sunnies are from a local shop in Stone Harbor called Wayward Gardner, the earrings are from Bloomingdales and by AQUA, the scarf is (borrowed from my boyfriend) by Hugo Boss, my ring is by Bali Couture and my bag is from the LF in Wellesley.

It’s always fun to play with proportions when dressing.  For a comfortable look, I like to pair men’s sweaters with leggings or fitted denim and an ankle boot.  Although this sweater isn’t mens, it still has that oversized feel.  The blunt, boxy cut contrasts the tailored fit of the pants and balances them out.  To pull this look together, I opted for a cocoon coat to give a straight silhouette.
