Silhouette Switch Up

Fashion, womens fashion, womenswear, work outfit

When it comes to clothing, I gravitate towards to a streamline silhouette created by a tucked shirt and skinny pants.  Today I decided to change the silhouette of my workwear with bellbottoms and a fit and flare blazer.   The dark bottoms and top work well together and feel like coordinating pieces.

The blazer is from Nordstrom BP, the button up is by Zara, the denim is by BDG and from Urban Outfitters and the pointed boots are by Nine West.  The belt is vintage, the earrings are from The Closet Boutique, the necklace is from Trinket, the bracelet was a gift from Greece, and the ring is from Mexico.

Earth Tones

Fashion, womens fashion, womenswear

Todays look is a casual outfit composed of earth tones.  I paired an olive green blouse with bellbottoms and warm brown accessories.  The colors create a relaxed, bohemian style for an everyday look.  The silhouette is true to the 70’s hippy vibe with a  flowy blouse and flared bottoms.  My dog Louie loved the look so much, that he joined in on the shoot.

The shirt is from JCrew, the pants are by BDG and from Urban Outfitters, and the shoes are from JCrew Factory.  The bag is from a local shop in Tulum Mexico, the earrings and gold bracelet are from Lucky Brand and the tortoise shell bracelet is from Decor and More.

Dark Flares

Fashion

Another trend sweeping the streets of New York is flared pants, one of the major styles is black flared pants like these Pixie Market ones.  Feeling inspired, I grabbed my floral pair, a turtleneck and statement Rocksbox necklace.

The leather jacket is by Bar3, the turtleneck is by Zara and the bell bottoms are an Urban Outfitters sale rack find (I got them two years ago).  The earrings are vintage and the necklace is from Rocksbox, and the shoes are by Sam Edelman.

Bellbottoms x Workwear

Fashion

Today’s look was inspired by yesterday’s shoot where I experimented with bell bottoms for a more casual-70’s vibe.  The bell bottoms are high rise and have a slimming affect, so I figured, why not wear them on Monday for work.

I paired the denim with a turtleneck that had gold embellishments and wore all gold accessories for a bold pop.

Halloween 2015

Fashion, halloween, halloween costume, ootd, womens fashion

This year I decided to keep my outfits with the same theme, fashion in different decades.  My outfit Friday was inspired by Cher and the 1970’s and my outfit on Saturday was a 1920’s inspired flapper.  Luckily, I already owned pieces that were 20’s and 70’s inspired so I just had to pair the right accessoires.

1970’s Hippie

My outfit was inspired by the carefree style and relaxed attitude of the 1970’s…I have been called a hippie many times in my life, so the costume is only fitting.

My outfit consists of a peasant blouse with high waisted bellbottoms and fringe boots (the fringe is covered by the flares).  The outfit is topped with a fringe jacket, patterned belt and floral headdress.

The blouse is from TJMaxx and by Nanette Lepore, the jeans are from Urban Outfitters and by BDG, and the boots are from Nordstrom.  The fringe jacket is from Nordstrom BP, belt from Lucky Brand, and floral headdress by Claires.

Close up of the top half of the outfit.

Before I left, I consulted with my mom about the outfit, she suggested adding a large belt and handed me this one.  I think the accessories (like this belt) really make the outfit what it is.

1920’s Flapper

My second Halloween look is a 1920’s flapper.  This look came to me while I was digging through my closet and found my Great Aunt’s flapper inspired dress.  The dress a handmade swing dress that emulates the loose fit of the 20’s.  I knew that I could make this costume work because I had a key piece.

I chose a 1920’s flapper because I love that time period and the way the women dressed.  What I love about Halloween is that you have to opportunity to dress up as whatever you’d like.

I wore this look on Saturday night to Shipyard’s Haunted Castle Event.

My full look consisted of the handmade dress, vintage faux fur coat, thigh high stockings and pointed black ankle straps.  I topped the outfit with a headband, pearl earrings and a long pearl necklace and a cross body.

The dress and fur coat were owned by my grandmother and Great Aunt and handed down to me.  My shoes are from Nordstrom and by Audrey Brooke, my stockings are from a Spirit and my necklace and earrings are from Nordstrom and my bag is from Urban Outfitters.

My makeup was inspired by the 1920’s hooded eye look.  I was inspired by these two pictures from Pinterest.  I used concealer to cover up the sides of my lips and create that doll pout.

This is the outfit without the coat.  The venue was hosted inside the incredible Park Plaza Castle.

I hope this gives you ideas for next Halloween!

70’s Inspired

Fashion, ootd, ootn

This past weekend, my mom and I were invited out to a Disco Event in Western Mass.  The event was a night filled with disco music and lots of dancing.  Since the theme was disco, many people dressed for the occasion, there were platform shoes, sequins and afros.  Having this knowledge, my mom and I played it cool with bellbottoms and a simple top.

Here is my mom and I posing at my sister’s apartment before the show.

I am wearing a suede fringe jacket from Nordstrom BP with a crop top from Garage and bell bottoms from a local boutique down the shore.  My shoes are from Nordstrom and by Enzo Angolini.

My mom is wearing a top from Free People, bell bottoms from the Shore Brand and shoes from Nordstrom and by Report.

70’s Inspired Bellbottoms

Fashion, ootd

Seventies styles and color schemes are huge for this fall season.  Bellbottoms, neck scarves and chunky pumps were popular on the fall runway lines.  Long lean silhouettes were also popular, these trends are figure flattering.  These trends were prevalent this week during fashion week.

Feeling inspired, I put on my high waisted bell bottoms and a crop top.  Although bellbottoms may seem dramatic, they are a figure flattering style that looks great on just about anyone.  I have always loved bell bottoms because they tend to run longer than your typical pant.  This trend is great for taller women.

These are one of my favorite pairs of bellbottoms, they are extremely figure flattering.  They are very high waisted and have a deep indigo wash.  High waisted pants elongate your legs (and suck you in) and the dark wash makes your legs look thinner.

The crop top is from Urban Outfitters, and the jeans are made by their BDG line.  My simple necklace is from JCrew, my clutch is by Michael Kors and my shoes are by Steve Madden.

Keeping true to the trend, I wore platform heels in a warm brown color with a white band.

What trends do you like?

Bell Bottoms x Crop Top

Fashion, ootd

After seeing the latest trends for the fall, it is obvious that 70’s are coming back.  Golden hues and flared fits cover the pages.  Feeling inspired, I put on my high waisted bell bottoms and a striped crop top.   I have always been an advocate for bellbottoms.  They have such a figure flattering fit and create a fun touch to any outfit.  I really like how they balance out the curvy shape of the upper thigh and create an interesting silhouette in the process.

When I wear bellbottoms, I like to keep the top simple and fitted.  For this look, I paired a navy and white vertical striped top as an ode to the 70’s.

The was a recent purchase (bought today) and worn very shortly after.  When I purchase an item, it’s because I love it.  I typically wear it shortly after because I have many different ideas as to what I want to pair it with.

This top was on sale ($10) from Urban Outfitters…so how could I say no.  The jeans are also from Urban and by BDG.  The shoes and bag are from TJMaxx and from Nine West and Michael Kors.

How do you feel about the 70’s coming back?

Button Up x Patterned Bellbottoms

Fashion, ootd

The 70s are back and in full force.  I aired out my floral bellbottoms in leu of this trend.  I bought them last summer at Urban Outfitters in Las Vegas and have been dying to wear them.  I paired them with a crisp white button down and pointed heels for work.

Here is the look:

The shirt is from JCrew, the bellbottoms are from Urban Outfitters and the shoes are from Nordstrom Rack and by 14th & Union. The color of the shoes ties into the beige color of the floral pattern on the navy bellbottoms.

I love the movement of the pants, they create an interesting flow.
